Can you refund DLC on Steam?
Updated August 29, 2026
Steam DLC refunds are generally considered under the same 14-day and two-hour framework as games, with an important condition: the base game must not have been played for more than two hours since the DLC was purchased, and the DLC must not have been consumed, modified, or transferred. Some DLC and third-party purchases have additional restrictions.
Open the purchase in Steam Support and submit the request there. Describe what was purchased and when; do not use a chargeback as a first step when the transaction is legitimate, because payment disputes can affect the account.
DLC rules are not a guarantee of approval. Steam can review requests outside the normal window, but the decision is discretionary. If a refund is approved, the processing time still depends on the original payment method. Keep the confirmation email and check the same account or wallet that paid for the purchase.
